Rural Workers Development Society (RWDS) was established in 2007 by a dedicated group of socially committed leaders who have been actively involved in community development initiatives for over three decades. The organization was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act with Registration Number 93/2007. With its headquarters located in Ramanathapuram, RWDS has been consistently working towards the upliftment of rural communities, focusing on education, skill development, livelihood enhancement, and social empowerment.

RWDS envisions an empowered rural society where marginalized communities, particularly children, women, youth, farmers, and unorganized rural workers, have equal opportunities for growth, education, and sustainable livelihoods.
The mission of RWDS is to enhance the socio-economic conditions of rural communities by providing skill development, educational programs, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, especially for Palmyrah workers, who form a significant part of the workforce in Ramanathapuram district.
